The Peninsula Paris will host the 24th edition of the prestigious event “Bal des Débutantes”
“Le Bal is the epitome of the French "art de vivre" but also an international event, welcoming all countries. Each year since 1992, it brings together twenty girls and twenty boys from a dozen nationalities. For one magical evening, they travel from the US, Europe, India, China as well as Kuwait or Brazil. The association between le Bal 2016 and an International hotel group as prestigious as The Peninsula Paris is in total harmony with the philosophy of le Bal and in my view the assurance of a successful future!” explains Ophélie Renouard, founder of Le Bal.
The presentation is followed by a dinner and – le Bal, and the purpose of this exclusive event – by invitation only – is to raise money for two charities:
- Seleni Institute, providing research, information and care critical to teenage mothers. Le Bal has supported this New York-based organisation since 2015.
- Enfants d’Asie, promoting young girls’ education in South East Asia. Each year since le Bal became involved with the organisation in 2009, donations received from the annual event have funded a year of schooling for 1,100 disadvantaged girls in Laos, Cambodia and the Philippines.
For this edition, the jeweller Payal NY will create unique jewellery pieces for each Deb, according to her gown and personality. Renault, the historical partner of le Bal, will drive the young ladies to haute couture houses for their fittings.
The Peninsula Hotels’ Vice President, Marketing, M Robert Cheng, expressed his joy at the news, “We are delighted to partner with Le Bal des Débutantes as it showcases perfectly the French Art de Vivre as well as the marriage of tradition and modernity that our Group celebrates..Ophélie has created a glamorous and international cultural institution, and we are honoured to be able to accompany her and Le Bal as they embark on their next phases of development.
